Historical Vignettes of City presented by Roland Penttila and Kate Matthews
1st: On July 15th, 1961 an old-west themed amusement park opened along Route 66 east of Albuquerque at the mouth of Tijeras canyon. It only survived for 3 years. Parkland Village member Roland Penttila will regale us with the history of that amusement park. It's a little known gem of a story.
2nd: New Mexico is the Land of Enchantment, as we all know. One of the reasons for that is depth of cultural heritage that we have here. Kate Mathews is going to talk about some of the "mysterious" monuments that are dotted around the state that also contribute to the enchantment of this place.
Join us on Saturday, August 23 when we will gather at a neighborhood home to learn more about our wonderful, unique city while schmoozing with friends. Registration is required.
