Parkland Village Covid Policies and Acknowlegment
Effective March 2025
Your Health, Your Choice
Parkland Village policies are designed to foster mutual respect, safety, and a neighborly spirit among members and volunteers. The Covid policy is designed to empower both members and volunteers by fostering informed decision-making and honoring preferences regarding masking and vaccination. This policy is about making sure that both members and volunteers feel safe and respected with regard to their choices. We want to create an environment in which people have the freedom to make choices about their health and safety, like deciding if they would prefer to work only with those who are masked and/or vaccinated. Please read carefully and sign the acknowledgment section to confirm your understanding and agreement with this policy.
Masking Policy
For Services (Indoors and In Vehicles)
- Masking is strongly recommended for all indoor services and car rides.
- KN94 or N95 masks are preferred; cloth masks are less effective.
- Ventilation is encouraged:
- Open windows when possible in homes and vehicles.
- If both the member and the volunteer specifically agree, they can choose not to follow the masking and ventilation recommendations. However, the default should be that they will follow these recommendations.
- Mask Availability: Parkland Village will provide masks to all volunteers unless they choose to use their own.
For Events
- Indoor events: Masking is strongly recommended.
- Air purifiers will be provided whenever possible.
- Outdoor spaces will be available when feasible to accommodate those who prefer them.
- Attendees may wear masks and maintain distance as they prefer.
COVID Vaccination Policy
- Parkland Village no longer requires vaccinations for members or volunteers.
- Recommendation: Stay up to date with COVID vaccines as they become available.
- While vaccines reduce the risk and severity of COVID, breakthrough infections and long COVID remain concerns.
Vaccinated-Only Service Requests
We respect individual health choices and offer the ability for members and volunteers to specify their preferences regarding vaccination status.
- For Members: If you wish to receive services only from vaccinated volunteers, you may request this by contacting the Services Committee via email ([email protected]) or phone (505-417-8799). You can specify what degree of vaccination is acceptable to you (e.g., at least two vaccinations or at least one booster in the past 12 months). Your preference will be recorded as part of an alert in your member profile and be visible to volunteers before they accept a service request. (This alert also includes other important information about you, such as whether you have pets or if you use a walker.)
- For Volunteers: Volunteers must check a member’s profile before accepting a service request. If the member has asked to receive services only from vaccinated volunteers and you do not meet the member’s requirements, please do not accept the service.
- For Volunteers Who Prefer Vaccinated Members: Volunteers may ask members directly about their vaccination status if they only want to provide services to vaccinated members. If you have questions or need guidance on how to have these conversations respectfully, we’re here to support you.
Our goal is to ensure that all members and volunteers feel comfortable and safe, and we appreciate everything that volunteers do to serve our community!
