Parkland Village member Victoria Cain will lead the discussion and offer information on “Planning for Important Health-Care Decisions.” Register (RSVP) for this forum by sending an e-mail to info@parklandvillageabq,org, and you will receive a Zoom link by the end of the day on Monday, May 27, as well as materials shortly after you RSVP.  You can also RSVP until 5 PM on Tuesday, May 28.

Victoria Cain is a clinical social worker with a specialty in palliative care counseling. She will be available to provide information and guidance to participants' who want to explore their values, preferences, life goals, and life experiences as they relate to healthcare decisions. She has worked for the past 17 years in hospital based palliative care, in hospice, and is currently working independently in mental health and palliative care counseling. Because the media has skewed the public's perception of palliative care, many people associate the term "palliative care" only with hospice and death. Palliative care is the umbrella term for the provision of comfort, guidance in decisions, and symptom control along the continuum of illness. Truly, the focus of the Forum is to discuss our potential choices in healthcare as we age and/or become ill such that it impacts our daily life for an extended period of time.

Victoria can answer questions people may have about the documents that participants will receive upon registration.
